In 2001 the Hertzberg Circus Collection and Museum at 210 W. Market Street ceased operation. This action was necessary because the condition of the building compromised the condition of both the circus memorabilia and the book and document archives.
Bexar County and the City of San Antonio are conducting a feasibility study on creating a San Antonio/Bexar County History Center in that location. The Library continues to provide security, protect the remaining collection, and monitor the building's condition.
