The 1950s Park Forest House Museum commemorates the pioneers of Park Forest--the residents who moved here during the first five years. Representing an original townhome, one of 3010 built by American Community Builders between October 1947 and October 1949, rooms are furnished as they might have been from 1948-1953. Park Forest was the first fully-planned, post-World War II suburb, called "America's Original GI Town," studied around the world. Now with convenient parking in front of the former school building it is housed in. The collection is now accessible--all on one floor, with a handicap accessible bathroom down the hall.

We have the great task of researching and recognizing those African-Americans who helped to make America the great country it is.

Three Museums in 100-year-old buildings in the National Registry of Historic Places - The three represent Local, Military, and Railroading History on the Historic National Road in Greenup, IL. The local genealogy library resides in the Historic Johnson Building where artifacts of local history are displayed. The Greenup Depot houses model railroads and historical artifacts and photos. The Cumberland County Military Museum honors local veterans with displays of memorabilia and recordings of local history.

Air Classics is an aviation museum located at Aurora Municipal Airport - ARR where the aircraft actually fly. You can sit in an A-7 that flew in the Gulf War and climb into the pilot's seat of a UH-1 Huey helicopter. The Egyptian Theatre is a 1929, fully restored, Egyptian Art Deco movie palace, operated and maintained by P.E.T. Inc. (Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the Egyptian is home to 25+ community groups that utilize the theatre every year and the theatre continues to show movies (classic & family films along with film festivals). The Egyptian is also available for rentals, tours, weddings, graduations, small parties and receptions.
