Tampa Bay History Center

Located along Tampa's Riverwalk, the Tampa Bay History Center interprets 12,000 years of Florida's history, highlighting Florida's first people, Florida's maritime history, including the history of conquistadors, pirates and shipwrecks, and the cigar and cattle industries. A Smithsonian Affiliate museum, the History Center's three floors of interactive exhibits and theaters focus on the Gulf Coast, from prehistoric times to the present through artifacts, artwork, textiles, documents and furniture. Collections include more than 100 rare shipwreck artifacts recovered from Florida waters, items depicting the history of Tampa's cigar industry, and a collection of Seminole Indian artifacts including tools, clothing and ceremonial items.

The Tampa Police Museum is open Mon – Fri from 10:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. and is located on the ground floor of the Tampa Police Department headquarters building in downtown Tampa. The entrance is on the West side of the building on N. Franklin Street.

The Bass Museum of Art

The Homer and Dolly Hand Art Center
Deland, Florida

The 5,000-square-foot art center includes two galleries one to exhibit rotating selections from the Vera Bluemner Kouba Collection and the second to display other works from the university's permanent art collection or for special shows. The $2.2 million building also has a foyer gallery/reception area, a vault, a preparation area and an art study/seminar room.

The Mennello Museum of American Art

The Mennello Museum of American Art was founded in 1998 by the City of Orlando with a generous selection of paintings by self-taught artist Earl Cunningham (1893-1977) donated from the collection of Michael and Marilyn Mennello. It's the largest collection of Cunninghams in existence and remains on permanent display. Tucked away on a picturesque shore of Lake Formosa in Orlando Loch Haven Park, the museum is housed in what was once the private home of Howard Phillips, son of philanthropist Dr. P. Phillips. A Smithsonian Affiliate, the museum also uses its gallery spaces to showcase changing exhibitions featuring American art of all genres and time periods, including originally curated and traveling shows. A lakeside sculpture garden is another attraction.

The Tampa Museum of Art opened its spectacular 66,000-square-foot Cornelia Corbett Center in February 2010 to critical and public acclaim. The Elliott Museum

This general museum features a variety of exhibits which focus on three areas--art, history and technology. The highlight of the permanent exhibitions is the auto gallery which features a unique robotic display with over fifty vehicles. The robot retrieves vehicles upon request and brings them to a display turn table for examination. Visitors can also see vintage vehicles on the floor of the gallery, including a Springfield, Massachusetts-made Rolls Royce, a 1930 school bus into which you can climb, and an exhibition of three differently-powered early cars. Other exhibitions include a Foucault Pendulum, an exhibition of early bicycles and inventor Sterling Elliott, and Evinrude outboard motors.
