The Baranov Museum is located in the Erskine House, a National Historic Landmark and the oldest of four Russian built structures remaining in the United States. Built as a warehouse for the lucrative fur trade, the Erskine House has overlooked the channel entering the port of Kodiak for over 200 years. At the Baranov Museum visitors can discover the history of this remarkable corner of the world through a variety of permanent and temporary exhibits, educational programs, and special events.
In 2004, the Kodiak Historical Society celebrated 50 years of dedication to preserving Kodiak history.
