The Museum was opened June 2, 2009. Previously, the Artillery Collection was part of the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum collection. Our collection includes a representation of uniforms from each era. We have added many new pieces and exhibits to peak the interest of any history or artillery buff.
Our collection is housed in three galleries. The Central Gallery features the four principle components of Artillery: Guns, Rockets, Forward Observation, and Fire Direction Control.
The South Gallery history is from the 1700s to the 1900s. The North Gallery starts with World War I and continues to the present day Artillery, which includes a prototype of the M777 Howitzer.
The Post Trader's Store (Gift Shop) has a variety of souvenirs to commemorate your visit. The Post Trader's offers art, coffee mugs, post cards, models of cannons (varying sizes), afghans, throws, sabers, and much more. Our library offers a range of books for children up to the most serious historical researcher.
One of the museum’s most unique groups of volunteers, the Fort Sill Gun Detachment, contributes their time and skills interpreting nineteenth-century artillery history. Both civilian and military personnel are represented on the gun crew including officers, enlisted men, teachers and others.
