Description

Located in the Carriage House behind the Warehime-Myers Mansion, the Museum offers a series of Hanover-based storylines identifying families, industries and events and transformed them into a linked saga of over 250 years of Hanover’s remarkable history.

Mission

To preserve, protect and promote the historical story of the Hanover area.

History

The Hanover Area Historical Society was formed in 1965 by a group of concerned citizens. In 1964, the Society purchased and restored the c.1783 Neas House, now on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2007, the Society was gifted with the 1913 Warehime-Myers Mansion. The History Museum opened in 2021. The Yelland Research Library and Archives is located in the Hormel History and Research Center in the Guthrie Memorial Library, Hanover's Public Library.

Artifact Collections

Artifacts depicting the diverse history of Hanover over 250 years. Of special note is the 1923 Hanover Car, one of a handful existing.

Programs

The Hanover Area Historical Society offers the Martin-Leese Lecture Series, with four-six lectures annually that are free and open to the public. The Society offers tours of all facilities for school groups and home-schoolers and can speak in the classroom when invited,
