Description

We have many new things in the gift shop this season. There is something for everyone. Please come check us out, take a tour of the village and help us make this the best year ever. Many Little Brown Church souvenirs, Iowa souvenirs and museum items for sale.

The Old Bradford Pioneer Village Museum has 13 buildings on its walking tour, including an original Great Western Depot and a Chicago Northwestern caboose. Dr. Pitts' medical office, two authentic log homes, General Store, Laundry, Blacksmith Shop, Agriculture Bldg, Heritage Bldg, Cottage, Jail, one room schoolhouse and toy shop. The Cottage is the only original building to the grounds. It was the home of the caretaker of the Little Brown Church, which sits adjacent to the museum property. All of the buildings are bursting with the tools and utensils of the 1800s and early 1900s.

History

When the family moved away from the Cottage in 1952, the land was purchased by the Chickasaw County Historical Society and began with a renovated Cottage. Over the years the other buildings have been brought in and utilized into a very interesting tour.

Artifact Collections

Artifacts from all facets of life in the 1800s and early 1900s.

Educational Programs

The weekend after Mother's Day in May is our annual Civil War Reenactment which we named "Battle of Old Bradford". On the Friday before the weekend is a School Day. The actors set up stations for the groups attending at which the groups learn about different areas of military of the Civil War.

Governance

We are a non profit organization run by volunteers.
