Business meetings are held the third Monday of each month, except in December, July, and August, and at different locations around the area.
Westside Historical Society seeks to preserve the history and traditions of the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland for future generations, and to promote an awareness and appreciation of the area's heritage.
We attempt to save and restore significant historical buildings or sites, artifacts, documents, records, photographs and art reflective of the history and culture, and coordinate preservation efforts with other local organizations. We work with area youth and civic groups, publish local history monographs, and promote exhibits
We work with other historical and cultural organizations locally and in the state, including the Adkins Historical Museum & Comlplex in Mardela Springs, the Wicomico Preservation Trust, Preservation Maryland, Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, Maryland Humanities Council, and Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council. Students from Salisbury University and Mardela Middle and High School have worked as interns in the Barren Creek Heritage Center & Museum.
