Geneva Lake Museum discovers and preserves the rich history that hides throughout Geneva Lake and the surrounding communities. The exhibits within the walls are time capsules that capture every essence of Geneva Lake and its people; people with amazing stories that unravel with every scene and every word led by our exclusive guides. These stories wait for people young and old who have the ears eager to listen, the eyes that are ready to be awakened and the open mind waiting to learn.

Main Street, Lake Geneva 1870-1930: A brick street welcomes you to the large central area of the museum. The west side features an agricultural area and representations of former local businesses. The east side, with its variety of facades, includes a nautical gallery, featuring the recovered anchor of the Lucius Newberry, as well as the history and development of the Geneva Lake Level Corporation.

Our museum consists of two buildings. One is the old Soo Line railroad depot which is full of railroad artifacts dealing with local history and railroad history. The museum building is a good source for people looking for family or local history of the Gordon and Wascott areas of Douglas County. It is full of photos, government records, personal narratives, and items from our past.

We normally open our museum to visitors in June, but will have to delay that opening this year due to the pandemic. We want to make sure our facility is safe for visitors and volunteers so, we may be closed temporarily, but please come visit us once we re-open to see our new general store and take a tour of the museum. Most importantly, everyone please stay safe and healthy. More details to come at a later date.
