The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society

The Benson Hammond House serves as the Ann Arrundell County Historical Society's headquarters and museum. A truck farm from 1830-1930, the museum contains many artifacts from local truck farms and contains an extensive picker check collection that reflects the system used by early farmers in the area to pay farm workers.

Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad Museum

On Presidents’ Day, February 16, 2003, amid a record-breaking snowfall, one half of the Museum’s massive roof collapsed. The collapse occurred as a result of the weight of drifting snow on the western side of the building. Eyewitness accounts depict the drifts nearly six feet in depth. The first alarm was received at approximately 11:40 PM on February 16th. Museum officials responded to find two sections of the 22-sectioned roof collapsed.

B&O Railroad Museum: Ellicott City Station

The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum: Ellicott City Station is the oldest surviving railroad station in America, and was the original terminus of the first 13 miles of commercial railroad in the country. The site features the Main Depot building, constructed in 1830-31; the freight house, designed by E. Francis Baldwin and built in 1885; a replica of the first horse-drawn passenger rail car, the Pioneer; and a 1927 "I-5" Caboose.

Our auditorium features our own "Trolley Theatre" in which children can watch a video about streetcars or perhaps you'd like to bring your own along to show. Beatty-Cramer House

Frederick County Landmarks Foundation is the proud owner of one of the most architecturally unique, and oldest known, standing buildings in Frederick County, MD. Located in the Mt. Pleasant District of Frederick County, the Beatty-Cramer House site is home to three structures. The primary building is a combination of the c.1748 Beatty portion of the house, the c.1855 Cramer addition, and later renovations. The two outbuildings are an 18th century spring house and a 19th century smoke house.
