Fire Museum of Maryland

The Fire Museum of Maryland is the third largest museum of its kind in the world and offers exhibits on the history of fire fighting, hand- and horse-drawn apparatus, the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904, as well as the reconstruction of Baltimore City's Engine House #8, the only cast-iron fire house in the area.

Throughout the building are videos and DVD's on a variety of fire related themes, as well as interactive programs for children. The children's Discovery Room was opened five years ago, and provides kids with a place where they can put on child-sized turnout gear and play on a full-size fire engine.

The Frederick County Landmarks Foundation is an organization that seeks to actively pursue the preservation of historic sites; structures, natural landmarks, and communities of Frederick County, Maryland and to increase the knowledge and appreciation of all of the above.

To this end, we have helped restore and preserve sites such as Schifferstadt, and the Beatty-Cramer house.

At these sites, Landmarks heads different events; Oktoberfest and Bell and History Days at Schifferstadt, Living History Days at Beatty-Cramer. These events both involve the community and make them aware of the importance of historic sites and buildings under Landmarks' care.

Fort George G Meade Museum

The Fort George G. Meade Museum was established to collect, preserve, study and exhibit historical artifacts pertaining to the history of Fort George G. Meade. The Museum is dedicated "in proud memory of those members of the United States Army who died in the defense of Freedom".
