The mission of the Coral Gables Merrick House is to preserve, interpret and promote the House and grounds as an historic house museum that represents the home environment of the Solomon and Althea Merrick family for the benefit of the public. This will be accomplished with the highest standards of the museum profession that our resources will allow.

Opened in 1952, the Lowe Art Museum is Miami-Dade’s oldest art museum. With nearly 19,0000 objects, it the region’s most comprehensive collection of western and non-western art from ancient to contemporary: Italian Renaissance & Baroque; Greco-Roman antiquities; 17th-21st century art of the Americas and Europe; art of Africa, Asia, Native and Ancient America, and Art of the Pacific. The Myrna and Sheldon Palley Pavilion for Contemporary Glass and Studio Arts opened in May, 2008.

The Museum is housed in Coral Gables' original 1939 WPA Police and Fire Station, a federally designated historic building, and beautiful new gallery spaces. The Museum features two semi-permanent exhibitions and three changing exhibition spaces.
