History
The Salvation Army Southern Historical Center is a museum, research library, and archives presenting the history of The Salvation Army in the South.
The Herndon Home, a Beaux Arts Classical mansion was built in 1910 for family of Alonzo Herndon. Mr. Herndon born a slave was the founder of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company.
We’ll kick off the event with a virtual day on Wednesday, July 24, hosted in collaboration with the Association of Midwest Museums (AMM). Then, we’ll gather in-person at the Hilton Columbus at Easton from July 31-August 3 for sessions, networking, and museum exploration. The SCFM Annual Conference is a time where we can celebrate the impact that museums have made on the state of South Carolina. It’s a time where we can share our successes, learn from our challenges, and grow as museum professionals.
We look forward to this year's conference September 16-18, 2024 in Laurens, SC. This year's theme is Fostering Community: There is No Museum Without "Us."

CAM is hard at work planning for the 2025 conference, set to take place from February 18–22, 2025 in San Francisco. We look forward to highlighting best practices and innovative ideas from California's museum community
The California Association of Museums is excited to continue offering in-person programming for 2025. We will not be requiring proof of COVID vaccination/s, but highly encourage vaccination and boosters. For the health and safety of our colleagues, masks are also encouraged (but not required). Capacity and spaces will be thoughtfully considered in the planning of this event.
