History, Military

In 1927 the U.S. Congress established Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Memorial National Military Park to commemorate the heroic deeds of the men engaged at the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Court House. Today the park also includes the historic structures of Chatham, Ellwood, Salem Church, and the "Stonewall" Jackson Shrine.

Art

The Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts (FCCA) is a non-profit, member-supported, volunteer run arts center and gallery housed in the historic Silversmith House (c. 1785). We are also a partner of the Viginia Museum of Fine Arts which provides the FCCA with numerous resources to share with the community. We display the work of local and national artists, provide educational opportunities for children and adults, and place a strong emphasis on community outreach and interaction. Beyond our regular exhibition schedule we sponsor lectures, a monthly film series, monthly poetry readings, trips to sites of cultural and artistic interest, and also one-time events.
