The Ohio Glass Museum was set up to show educational and artistic displays of glass, take the visitor through the development and production of not only industrial glass, but also pressed, blown and art glass. The house (museum) was built in 1835 by John Dodge, Esq., benefactor and founder of Beverly, Ohio. The log house was removed from a farm in the area. Both the museum and house contain many artifacts of the area and time including: antique furniture and clothing, photos and documents. The goal of the institution was truly to “reform” and rehabilitate its inmates, who received three things during their time at OSR: religion, education, and a trade. Inmates were admitted for 18 months, and if they showed progress, they could be released after that time. If not, they received another 18 months. The model was successful and OSR had a high success rate and a low recidivism rate.

Historic Fort Steuben is a recreation of life on the Ohio frontier in the late 1700's when the young American government was planning to survey and sell newly acquired land: the Northwest Territory (which was to become Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin). The recruits were young and inexperienced; the supplies were limited; life was difficult. Only one of two fully reconstructed forts in Ohio on its original site, Historic Fort Steuben brings to life the harsh realities only hinted at in history textbooks. Further exhibits of pioneer and Native American life are found in the Exhibit Hall of the Visitor Center. When the fort is closed for the winter, seasonal exhibits on American history and culture are on display in the Exhibit Hall.
