The Newnan Coweta Historical Society is housed in the Male Academy Museum. This building served as a private boys school from1883-1888. Situated in one of Newnan's 5 Historic Districts, the museum exhibits both permanent and temporary collections.

Marble Museum

The museum includes a year-round exhibit that includes “examples of fine marble and shows the history of marble mining in Pickens County. Many stone cutters and other workers who migrated from either Italy or Scotland in the early years of the industry settled in Nelson to work in the area’s marble industry. Today the Great Northern Railroad operates between Tate, Georgia, and the CSX interchange at Elizabeth (Marietta) five days a week. The Georgia Marble rail lines at Tate and Marble Hill, and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad at Blue Ridge, Georgia are also operated by GNRR. Margaret Mitchell House and Museum

Operated by the Atlanta History Center, the Margaret Mitchell House features guided tours of the apartment where Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With the Wind, a Gone With the Wind movie exhibition, an exhibition showcasing the life and times of one of America’s most famous authors, and the Margaret Mitchell gift shop. Throughout the year, enjoy a variety of programs presented by the Literary Center at the Margaret Mitchell House. Designed to honor and preserve the legacy of Margaret Mitchell, the Literary Center hosts regular programs with award-winning authors, as well as annual creative writing classes for adults and youth, and community initiatives that engage younger generations in the process of writing, reading, and reciting literature, such as the Big Read and Poetry Out Loud.

Sean’s dream since he could remember was his Pop’s ’59 Cadillac Coup De Ville. He never saw the car in the daylight growing up, it stayed safe, covered up in his Pop’s shop. Years after his Pop passed the Caddy still sat in the shop, it’s future unknown. After a lot of heart, time and some needed cooperation from Sean’s dad Pop’s 59 made the long trip from the sunny west coast to her new home in the south.

The Morris Museum of Art, located on the Riverwalk in downtown Augusta, Georgia, is the first museum dedicated to the art and artists of the American South. The collection includes holdings of nearly 5,000 paintings, works on paper, photographs, and sculptures dating from the late-eighteenth century to the present. In addition to the permanent collection galleries, the museum hosts eight to ten temporary special exhibitions every year.
