Hannibal African American Life and History Project
Hannibal, Missouri

Culture, History, Historic House

This time last year we were working very hard to make the Hannibal African American Life and History Project (HAALHP) a reality. Our September 10th Grand Opening was a tremendous success; we were able to shine a spotlight on the long overdue history of Hannibal's African American community. The Exhibit has been enjoyed by hundreds of visitors who commented on the historical significance of the African American community to Hannibal's past which inspire us to look for ways to make this Exhibit a permanent part of Hannibal?s cultural experience.

History Museum on the Square is a private, not-for-profit organization that began in 1975 as a Bicentennial project. The space for the History Museum office was in historic Old City Hall and was provided by the City of Springfield, but we have now moved our offices in July 2013, near our new museum space on Springfield?s historic Park Central Square. Our new business office is located in the beautiful Holland Building in Suite 404 ( 4th floor.)
