The Lahaina Restoration Foundation manages a number of historic buildings and cultural sites. Pick up a copy of their walking tour brochure which directs you to 31 sites within a few blocks radius.

Park

Visit the archaeological remains of a traditional Hawaiian fishing community. A self-guided trail leads you to housesites and a canoe halau (longhouse), into a game area where you can practice spear throwing,Ôulu maika (disc rolling) and konane (checkers)

Laupahoehoe Train Museum

Located on the site of the Laupahoehoe train station, this developing museum portrays the key role that the railroad played linking Hamakua sugar plantation communities to Hilo, the harbor, and the outside world.

Tour the restored home of missionaries David and Sarah Lyman, built in 1839. The adjoining museum features extensive exhibits on HawaiÔiÕs diverse cultural history, natural history, geology and astronomy.
