The Oklahoma Museums Association exists to assist museums with their efforts to educate, inform and entertain.
OMA is the primary provider of professional training and technical information to staff and volunteers of Oklahoma's 500 museums, historic sites, tribal cultural centers, and historical societies. The OMA office is located in Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.
Memberships and other earned income, grants, contributions and touring exhibit fees fund OMA's programs. Primary supporters include the Oklahoma Arts Council, Kirkpatrick Family Fund, Oklahoma City Community Foundation, The Kerr Foundation, Inc., and ConocoPhillips Company and museums around the state.
OMA is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in 1972. Programming offered by the Oklahoma Museums Association is important as the primary source of information and professional development for Oklahoma's 500 museums, historical societies, historic sites, zoos and botanical gardens, historic houses, living history museums, tribal cultural centers and other museum-related institutions.
