Description

The purposes of the Northeast Georgia History Center at Brenau University shall be to:
acquire and preserve sources of information concerning the history of Northeast Georgia by collecting, cataloguing, preserving, and maintaining manuscripts, photographs, and artifacts pertaining to the history of this region;
maintain and operate museum facilities adequate to preserve, protect, and display materials and artifacts of historical interest to arouse the citizens of and visitors to the region an interest in its history;
provide special exhibitions focusing on the distinctive culture and history of the region;
cooperate with other cultural and educational institutions in implanting in present and future generations a pride in the region’s history and traditions;
maintain facilities that will enable students and other researchers to make free use of such materials; and
conduct educational programs for the public and school groups that focus on major historical developments of the region.

Mission

The Mission of the Northeast Georgia History Center at Brenau University is to promote greater understanding of the cultural, social, economic, and political history of the Northeast Georgia Mountains Region.

History

Since the Grand Opening in May of 2004 the Northeast Georgian History Center at Brenau University has served the community through its thriving programs, forums, educational offerings, and special events. We hope you will visit soon and add your story to ours!
