Hours

The Museum of Largo is open on the first Saturday of each month from 10AM until 2PM. We are also open on the 2nd Monday of each month from 6PM until 8PM. Other hours by appointment.

Admissions

No admission Fee is charged for touring the Museum. We will accept donations.

The Largo Area Historical Society is a non profit Corporation chartered under Florida Law on October 17, 1973. We operate the Museum of Largo History, provide tours, publish historical books and have a publication titled "The Wise Cracker", Exec. Editor, Charlie Harper.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the historic Largo Feed Store and Museum will remain closed until Saturday, September 5th, On the 5th the Museum will open from 10 am until 3 pm for viewing our historic displays. A FACE MASK COVERING THE NOSE AND MOUTH IS REQUIRED WHILE IN THE MUSEUM. Historians will be at the site to answer questions.

Mission

The Primary Source of History for the greater Largo, Florida area, first settled in 1843.

History

The first settlers in Largo were the three McKay Brothers who settled in what is now SW Largo. In the beginning Citrus and Cattle were the economic engines of Largo. Now, Electronics and Medical facilities are the primary economic drivers. The current estimated population is 90,000. With over 175 years of tradition to build on, Largo’s future is assured. The Largo Area Historical Society is here to remember the past and help us all build the future.
