The Western Museum of Mining & Industry is always coming up with new, exciting programs. We offer regular tours at 10 am and 1pm, gold panning, hands-on exhibits, operable steam engines and special events. Visit our website at www.wmmi.org for a list of up coming events.
The Museum was founded in 1970 at a different location, and eventually moved to our current location in 1980.
The Museum's mission is to collect, preserve, and educate the public on the American west. Our collections details a number of operable steam engines and mining equipment. We have a reference library for students and members, which covers a number of topics relating to mining in the American west.
Our library is an excellent source for individual interested in mining history or towns, especially focusing on the western United States. We do allow visitors with a scheduled appointment to visit and research in our reference library.
WMMI has regular tours at 10 am and 1 pm with very knowledgeable staff members. We offer special events all year, including super saturdays, outside machinery operations, educational lectures, teacher workshops, etc. For more information on our special events please check our website.
