To celebrate Hood River County's diverse cultural heritage and preserve it's unique story.
This rich collection began with the Pioneer Society in 1907 and has been added to by members of the community for over 100 years.
The current museum building was opened to the public in 1978 and was built from generous community support and donations.
Educational programs, special events and archive collection materials are supported through private donations, contributions, museum memberships and grants.
The museum has a diverse artifact collection which is constantly being inventoried and processed into a state-of-the-art museum collection database system that documents over 11,000 artifacts.......with more being added weekly.
Extensive Photographic Collection (currently being digitized for on-line access). Historical family biographical files and general interest collection.
The History Museum is a department of Hood River County and managed by an advisory board appointed by the County Board of Commissioners.

The History Museum is a great place for tours and special events. There is a full service museum store offering merchandise related to Hood River County and the museum collection and exhibits. Outside picnic area also with quick access to the river beaches offers a great visitors stop.
