The Bannock County Historical Museum welcomes all donations. All contributions are used to conserve artifacts and documents, upgrade or create new exhibits, and generally care for the collections entrusted to us so they can be here for future generations to enjoy. Thank you for supporting your local history museum!

The Bannock County Historical Museum houses exhibits, objects, and records relating to Bannock County and Pocatello's history. Exhibit themes include railroad history, early medical practices, general store, Victorian era parlor, Buddhist Shrine, early photography studio, Prohibition era police evidence, early fire-fighting, local printing history, historic ranching and farming tools, a Holladay Overland Stage Company stagecoach, horse tack, Shoshoni and Bannock ethnographic photographs and objects, local archaeological specimens, our unique donor wall, a research library open to the public, and much more!
The purposes of this Society shall be to bring together people interested in history, and especially in the history of Bannock County and Eastern Idaho, for a better understanding of our democratic way of life and our development as a territory and state; for preservation of historical objects, documents, photographs, and other items; and for the dissemination of historical information and facts through meetings, programs, trips and any other means deemed suitable.
The museum was begun by members of the Bannock County Historical Museum two years after their incorporation in 1961. At first the collections were kept in the basement of what was then the Carnegie Library in Pocatello's Old Town area (later the Marshall Public Library). A new museum building was constructed in 1990 to house the Society's collections, built entirely with donations on a plot of land dedicated by the county for this purpose.
