Our major project is the renovation and restoration of the Lincoln Grade School in Port Angeles, where we hope to establish a museum that will become a true hub of our community, a research center and gathering place for all who have a love of history and a desire to preserve it. We also want to make it possible for all of the school children in Clallam County to visit our museum and learn more about the history of our area. Our fundraising efforts revolve around these two objectives.
The Clallam County Historical Society was established in 1948 to preserve and interpret the historical record of Clallam County for the community, students, researchers, and visitors.
Collections include more than 10,000 historic photos, vintage clothing, tools and utensils, newspapers and ledgers, oral histories, and other archival material.
A large collection of archival data from the 19th and 20th centuries that is available to researchers.
We offer a program "History Tales" on the first Sunday of each month at 2:30 pm in the City Council Chambers of the Port Angeles City Hall, which showcases the history of our area. This program is offered Jan.thru Jun, Oct. and Nov. Admission is free and those interested can call us or look on our Web site for up-to-date details.
