The South Pierce County Historical Society is a non-profit public charity in Washington State, working to preserve and promote local history in the south Pierce County area. Our group is very small, and seeks financial support from individuals and businesses interested in the rich history of the greater Eatonville area, and keeping it alive, especially in the young. We have one structure - the Van Eaton Cabin, the first home in Eatonville, built in 1889. We call it the Stage Stop Museum, as it was a stage line stop along the Indian Henry Trail from Commencement Bay to the base of Mount Rainier. It was also a trading post, post office, store and family home.
