The Meigs County Pioneer and Historical Society, aka the Meigs County Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)3 and exists to further historical education in Meigs County, Ohio. To this end it maintains a museum for collecting, preserving and interpreting archival materials and artifacts indigenous to Meigs County; encourages historical research; issues publications; sponsors displays, symposia and special events; is concerned with the preservation of historical buildings and sites, and raise such funds needed to carry on the day-to-day operations and purposes of the society.
Meigs County Historical Society organized in 1876 and Meigs County Museum opened in 1971.
