The Society maintains a museum - the Waugh House at 23 West Main Street. The Society presents a yearly lecture series and sponsors other activities such as ethnic heritage festivals, walking tours and an oral history program focusing on longtime area residents. A tour and a talk on Greenville history is provided for school classes visiting the museum. Assistance in research on local history is available on request.
The Greenville Area Historical Society was organized in 1978 by a group of dedicated Greenville citizens to preserve the rich history of our town. There are currently 250 active members.
