Description

Bushy Run Battlefield is the only recognized Native American battlefield in Pennsylvania. It is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission in cooperation with the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society. The park encompasses over 250 acres and is listed on the National Register of Historic places.

Mission

Committed to preserving and restoring Bushy Run Battlefield as a historical, educational and recreational resource for the community.

History

In August 1763, a two-day battle occurred at Bushy Run between British and Native forces. With the British victory here, they were able to relieve the siege at Fort Pitt and open the west to future settlement.

Artifact Collections

Collections include an original 18th century pack-saddle and several period weapons.

Educational Programs

Guided tours of the battlefield are provided Fri-Sun during the normal season. School tours are also provided with prior reservations. An educational conference entitled the "Ohio Country Conference" is held every spring at a local university.
