Description

The journey from 10 original aircraft to over 150 has been a long one, the mission has never changed. Planes of Fame Air Museum remains dedicated to collecting, restoring, preserving and displaying aircraft and memorabilia for the educational benefit of current and future generations. And although the Museum spans the history of manned flight from the Chanute Hang Glider of 1896 to the Space Age of Apollo, many more chapters remain to be written and many more stories told before the vision of a young Ed Maloney is finally fulfilled.

The Planes of Fame Air Museum is a "living history" museum, where the aircraft are not only preserved, but are kept flying! Through the generosity of the many people who donate funds or aircraft parts to the museum and the dozens of volunteers who donate their time to restore and maintain the aircraft, many of these rare warbirds are in flying condition. To share the collection with the public, our warbirds are flown regularly, participating in airshows, military base open houses, and are often used in the making of television programs and motion picture presentations.

Planes of Fame Air Museum is proud to announce the opening of the Hands-On Aviation Center at its Chino location! Chock full of aviation history and hands-on displays to enrich your visit to the Museum, there is something for every age to explore! Current favorites are the rocket launcher and flight simulators, but be sure not to miss the Sound Barrier! The Center is open on most Saturdays to all Museum visitors (by appointment during the week for groups) and is included in your regular Museum admission.

Opened in February 2010, the Museum library is located on the Chino campus just off the main courtyard. The library hosts thousands of volumes of rare aircraft related books, magazines, and other resources. While the library is currently open only to Museum members on Saturdays from 9:00 to 5:00, an extended schedule is planned.

Housed in a bright, modern, 900-square foot facility located on the Chino Airport, the Planes of Fame Air Museum gift shop is open to the public 7 days a week, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The gift shop offers a wide variety of aircraft themed items, including books, toys, aviation art, jackets, clothing and models with an emphasis on World War II fighters and bombers. The Planes of Fame Air Museum gift shop will take special orders and can offer a personal shopper to assist you. Can't make it in? Visit our Online Gift Shop!

Hold your next special event at the Planes of Fame Air Museum and offer your group an opportunity to step back in time! Our brand new 45-seat movie theater is now available to rent for your private screenings! We can also host your smaller scale event as well as rental of our entire Planes Of Fame Air Museum facility. Contact Us today if you have questions or to further coordinate your site visit and special event.
