The Museum serves children ages 6 months - 8 years, their families, educators and caregivers. All children must be accompanied by adults, and all adults accompanied by children.
At the Bay Area Discovery Museum, play cultivates creativity. The construction cones in Lookout Cove turn out to make perfect wizard hats. And who would have predicted that children would use the hidden reaches of the willow-maze as a garage for the gravel-pit dump trucks, or that they would ride those trucks down the incline of the Golden Gate Bridge? At the Museum, it is not unusual to see children playing within an exhibition in ways never imagined by the exhibit designers.
The Discovery Council is the Museum’s all volunteer fundraising auxiliary which organizes annual events in support of the Museum’s programs and exhibitions. We look for energetic people who are able to contribute their time, talent and resources to the three fund-raising events we sponsor each year. This is an opportunity to help an institution and make a difference.
See why we’ve been voted Best Kid’s Party in Marin - our parties are in Pacific Sun's Hall of Fame. All birthdays offer plenty of party time in one of our private rooms, unlimited fun for your guests throughout the Museum, and help from our friendly staff assistants for set up and clean up. Parties must be booked a minimum of 2 weeks in advance (two to three month advance reservation is recommended). Full payment is required at the time of registration for all birthday parties.
The café sources all local foods, primarily from organic and sustainable purveyors. “It’s important we only offer food that we can account for. Knowing your food is from local sources, was raised or made responsibly, and is healthy and tasty is important in everything we do,” said Newton.
The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor children's museum at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge dedicated to nurturing childhood creativity.
