Also open by appointment; a more accessible schedule will begin in late October 2011 after upstairs renovations are completed.
The Mary Aaron Memorial Museum at the Warren P. Miller House is the only house museum in Yuba and Sutter Counties. We are presently working on restoring the second floor of this ca. 1855 brick home and will re-open for tours by October 2011. The outside urban garden area is open.
The house was originally designed and built by Warren P. Miller, architect and inventor. Construction was started in 1855 and finished in 1856. Mr. Miller was influenced by the Gothic era of design and so the house looks somewhat like a little castle. It was eventually purchased by Francis and Mary Aaron in 1874. After the death of their only son, Charles Francis Aaron, in 1955, the house was willed to the City of Marysville, with the express purpose of turning it into a museum to be named in honor of his mother Mary Bobo Aaron.
We carry copies of most of the books on Marysville and Yuba/Sutter County histories, including The Survivors, Images of America: Marysville's Chinatown, Marysville, Timbuctoo and Smartsville, and others.
