Dedicated to preserving the history of Arcadia, CA.
The mission of the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage is to collect, preserve and recognize Arcadia's heritage; to create a shared identity for a diverse community; and to celebrate the City's rich history with exhibits and educational programs that will encourage community involvement.
Through the combined efforts of the City of Arcadia, the Arcadia Historical Society, and members of the community, the construction of a local museum became a reality. Dedicated on October 2, 2001, the new museum was named after its lead donors Ruth and Charles Gilb. The Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage collects local artifacts from the prehistoric era to the present and preserves the rich history of Arcadia.
The Gilb Museum houses several collections that relate to Arcadia history, on topics such as the Santa Anita Japanese Assembly Center, Arcadia Women's Club, Arcadia Veterans, City departments, and more. The Gilb Museum also retains a complete set of historic Arcadia High School yearbooks. It houses historic photographs, books, newspapers, scrapbooks, textiles, art, and more.
