Description

The museum highlights numerous articles, plus outlines many aspects of military life and history from WWI, WWII, the Korean War, The Cold War, The Vietnam War, The Iraq war, and The War In Afghanistan.

Mission

The museum provides an avenue for people to appreciate and honor the men and women who served bravely in all branches of our Armed Forces.

History

As curator, when moving to Brevard in 2016, I began with small exhibits in town. First, a one day exhibit, then a 3 week one, and finally a three month exhibit. These were so successful, that the Transylvania County Commissioners voted to lease our museum the building we are now housed in.

Artifact Collections

Uniforms, Medals, Weaponry, Original Photos, Original Newspapers, Artifacts from Wars beginning with WWI through the War On Terror (Ongoing).

Research Collections
-Educational Library with over 600 books and 200 Life magazines from WWII.

Educational Programs

We have a docent program (Pathfinders), we feature special exhibitions, offer lectures by Veterans on many subjects and personal experiences, and plan to begin to show old war movies on a regular basis. We also encourage Field Trips for schools, and enjoy traveling to schools in western NC to educate the students about military history. We speak at the library and the American Legion, too. Group tours for the public are available with advanced notice.
