Step back in time to the golden era of railroad passenger service as a Tour Guide takes you behind the scenes of a Railway Post Office Car, Dining Car, Sleeper Car and Office Car, with special occasion options to see the interior of a diesel locomotive, a rare WWII Unit Hospital car, a Caboose and a soon to arrive rare 3-section Segregation rail car.
Meander at your leisure inside the museum. Activate the model railroad exhibit by the sHOw Modular Model Railroad Club, and explore the social and cultural history of the railroad through exhibits on Segregation, Hobos, Dining Car, Civil War, a movie theater and much more. Kids under 5 can enjoy the play area in the Gift Shop!
The object and purpose of the Friends of L&N Depot, Inc. is to facilitate displays, exhibits and programming which preserve and present railroad history in the context of its impact locally and as a vital role in our nation's social and economic development.
Opened in 2007 in the historic L&N Depot, the Historic RailPark & Train Museum is operated by the Friends of L&N Depot.
In 2013, the National Archives of the L&N Historical Society will be located at the L&N Depot.
The "All Aboard" lecture is held the last Saturday of each month, 8:30AM. Topics explore the cultural, social, historical and personal aspects of the railroad.
The 1925 historic L&N Depot is available for weddings and special events. The Dining Car is also available for small dinners of less than 50 people.
Governace is by a 14 member Board of Directors.

The Historic RailPark & Train museum offers guided tours of vintage passenger cars and a self-guided tour of the museum, with a gift shop and model railway exhibit. The building is also available for special event rental.

The museum inside the Depot is accessible by handicap individuals. However, due to the construction of the railcars, accessibility is limited (narrow halls, steep steps)
