Heathcote Botanical Gardens

Description

5 acre sub-tropical garden featuring vernacular architecture and collections of palms, bromeliads, orchids, herbs, bonsai and other plants. Gift shop on site. 64-acre expansion underway. Recently received 100 Bonsai from Bonsai Master Jim Smith. Display will be opened late April.

Mission

Dedicated to serve as a resource of horticultural, botanical and ecological knowledge to educate the public by maintaining a collection of quality plants, and by providing cultural, educational and recreational activities that attract constituents from a broad geographical range.

History

A nursery location since the 1950's, Heathcote Botanical Gardens was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1985. A 150-acre Master Plan positions Heathcote as a partner in a linear park and 842-acre greenways system.
