History

In the early 1990s, Turlock Downtown Association member Dr. Rob Santos held an informational meeting about forming a historical society, and about twenty-five citizens attended. Within two years, the Turlock Historical Society was incorporated. Original charter board members were Scott Atherton, Chrissie Collins, Darlene Freeman, Diane Miles, and Rob and Kristen Santos. The society’s stated mission was “to collect, chronicle, and preserve historical data, verbal accounts, and artifacts pertaining to the history of the City of Turlock for future generations.”
