Explore the extraordinary life and achievements of Mary Baker Eddy, who defied conventional 19th-century thinking to become an influential religious leader, publisher, teacher, and businesswoman. The museum also houses the famous Mapparium®, an achievement in art and architecture.

Mission

The Mary Baker Eddy Library provides public access and context to original materials and educational experiences about Mary Baker Eddy’s life, ideas, and achievements, including her Church. The Library promotes exploration and scholarship through its collections, exhibits, and programs.

History

Opened in 2002, The Mary Baker Eddy Library offers one of the largest collections by and about an American woman.

Artifact Collections

The Mary Baker Eddy Library contains thousands of published and unpublished writings, artifacts, photographs, and other media that chronicle Mary Baker Eddy?s ideas, life, and achievements. Objects from the collection can be seen in permanent and rotating exhibits.

Research Collections

The Library offers historical and contemporary reference and circulating materials as well as original historical content for in-depth research. For more information, visit our Lending and Reference Services and Research Room departments online or in person.

Educational Programs

The Library offers a series of adult and youth programming year-round from our annual One World free summer enrichment programs to collections orientations on First Saturdays or panel discussions with experts. For more information, please consult our Web site.
