The Tallahassee Historical Society has included such notable historians as Mark Boyd, Dorothy Dodd, William Warren Rogers, Mary Louise Ellis, J. Leitch Wright, Joy and Cliff Paisley and Gloria Jahoda.
The THS acts as a facilitator and promoter of local history education. It stages talks by historians or those involved in historic preservation efforts. It acts as a liaison for people seeking history information.
The Tallahassee Historical Society started in 1933 and is believed to be the oldest such group in Florida. It was founded by state librarian W.T. Cash, a noted historian who brought in others of his ilk — meaning folks who were doing active research and writing about history.
