Martin's Gen'L Store is owned and operated by the Historic Millburn Community Association, Incorporated, on an all-volunteer and not-for-profit basis. Our mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance Millburn, which is part of the Village of Old Mill Creek, Illinois. Millburn was settled in the late 1830s by number of Scottish settlers, many of whom were abolitionists. Millburn played a role in the Underground Railroad. The HMCA, Inc. is working on the restoration of the Millburn Cemetery Fence and funds our local plaque program. We also operate a museum and website to preserve the history of the area. The Millburn Historic District has 18 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Tours of our General Store Museum may be arranged by appointment.
