Located an hour and a half north of Houston in the Big Thicket, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe is the oldest Indian reservation in Texas. Our rich history and beautiful enclave are what tribal citizens and tourists alike love about our nation. Visit us to experience the natural beauty of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas.
Previously two tribes now united as one, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas boasts a unique story dating back to before the 1700s. Our tribal citizens are very proud of our history, from our migration to what is now Texas to our role in aiding Sam Houston during the Texas War of Independence to the federal government’s official recognition of our nation in 1987.
