A stricking adobe structure, this site explores the stories of a multicultural family that influenced the development of the Southwest borderlands. The Home, built around 1875 by Joseph Magoffin, is a prime example of Territorial style architecture and features a center courtyard and peaceful landscape. Explore the home's authentic art and furnishings reflecting the daily lives of a prominent El Paso family.
The Magoffin Home preserves and interprets the history, artifacts, and heritage of a prominent El Paso family, inspiring a deeper appreciation and understanding of Texas and the Southwest borderlands during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This is accomplished by immersing visitors in an authentic historic environment, by providing quality programs that educate, enlighten, and entertain, and by supporting community efforts to preserve local history.

The museum provides volunteers with opportunities to learn new things as well as to participate in the social interaction that comes from working with others. Volunteers can be interpretive docents and lead tours, work as researchers and writers, help preserve collections, assist in the office or with marketing, become part of our living history program, work on the grounds or in the workshop, or help with special events. Volunteers are placed according to their interests and abilities.
The Magoffin Home engages visitors in the history of West Texas and the Southwest Borderlands. We are for business meetings, banquets, receptions and other events. We have no interior spaces for rent. Special tours of the interior of the home can be arranged to coincide with your event, but activities must not interfere with the normal operation of the museum.
