Volunteers (adults and students) are always needed and welcome. There are many ways for students to earn Student Service Learning hours.
Volunteers are especially needed in the following areas:Genealogy Library, Museum Docents
, Gardening.
The mission of the Washington County Historical Society is to preserve and promote the history of Washington County, MD, and to inspire others to join in that pursuit.
The Washington County Historical Society was founded in 1911 by 29 local citizens. The organization's actions have been successful in preserving a number of local sites with national historical involvement. WCHS owns and operates an 1825 townhouse museum and a 1904 2-room country school museum.
Period furnishings of the museums and several special collections of clocks, silver, dolls, Civil War artifacts and Bell pottery.
Archival rooms contains old documents and photographs of local history.
