Vistors to the Richmond Art Museum (RAM) should prepare to have their eyes opened and their minds engaged by traveling exhibitions, a remarkable permanent collection of 19th and 20th Century American Art, and a variety of stimulating child-centered activities.
RAM boasts a well-known collection of American art of the last two centuries, opening in 1898 as one of the oldest museums in the State of Indiana. The only known independent art museum to be housed within an active public high school, RAM is committed to arts education.
Over 2,000 objects including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, ceramics, glass, and sculpture.
Artists files, exhibition catalogues dating to 1899.
Elementary are children are treated to intercultural learning experiences with the Art is... series, and the screening of independent films created by local high school filmmakers appeals to young adults and adults alike. In addition, an annual high school art competition is hosted at RAM each spring.
