The Indiana Military Museum (IMM) exists to serve the citizens of the community, the state, and the nation with educational programming, archives, displays, and opportunities for intense research related to America?s military history from the American Revolution to the present day. The museum is dedicated to fostering the memory, understanding, and appreciation of U.S. military history. The museum contains one of the best overall collections of military memorabilia in both the Midwest and the United States and has a vast array of unique artifacts, including military vehicles, artillery, weaponry, uniforms, insignia, artwork, textual resources, music, equipment and other related artifacts from the Revolutionary War to the present day. This is accomplished by maintaining, preserving, and displaying artifacts which represent the strength and freedom of our American heritage.
Exchange programs are available. For more information e-mail the museum director.
The General Officer's collection is one of the best outside of West Point. It contains letters, documents, flags, insignia and uniforms from U.S. WW II Generals and Admirals as well as the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf. Among those exhibited are Generals Dwight D. Eisenhower, George S. Patton, jr., William C. Westmoreland, Omar N. Bradley, Mark Clark, Maxwell Taylor, James Gavin, Bruce Clarke, Ira C. Eaker, Robert Grow, Jame A. Van fleet, Henry Sayler, Bruce K. Holloway, William Yarborough, Robert L. Scott, Robert Leich, Colin Powell and Tommy Franks. Admirals William F. Halsey, Eugene Flucky and Robert B. Caney are also on exhibit.
We welcome photography or video taping of our exhibits as long as they used for private purposes and not for profit. We ask that children under 12 years old be accompanied by an adult. The museum continues to add to and rotate its displays in order to enhance the interest of our returning visitors.
