Our goal is to educate the public as to the vast importance that the Southern Indiana Brewery's founders and families had on not only the Evansville area but the country as a whole. The accomplishments of these families are varied and go far beyond what one would expect from them. Just a few of them are: An Admiral of the complete Pacific fleet and land troops in the United States Navy. A State Representative Inventor of Portland Cement The beginning of the Dodge truck The development of refrigerator compressors and so on it goes. These are things that very few people know about these families. Our goal also is to restore the Hartmetz home and grounds as close as possible to the way it was in 1876.
NOTE: This Museum is in the process of relocating. We will advise once relocation has been completed. Date of notice is April 2010.
We started researching Southern Indiana Brewery Families in 1992 when we were associated with the FW Cook family estate. What we found connected to this family was amazing. We purchased the Charles Hartzmetz family home ( Sterling Beer) in 1997 and have been working on collecting information about this family as well as restoring the home.
A varied collection of the history of the two families as well as many Brewery realted items.
Alot of research has been done on the two families and their accomplishments and contributions.
