TFAA was founded in 1911. It is Texas' oldest statewide visual arts organization, and it remains the only one devoted exclusively to bringing contemporary art to Texas audiences. TFAA was the original owner of Laguna Gloria Art Museum (LGAM) in Austin. For more than 50 years, it has organized exhibitions shown at LGAM. In 1998, TFAA will begin presenting exhibitions at CenterSpace, its new state headquarters at 700 Congress Avenue in downtown Austin.

TFAA publishes ARTSNews, a quarterly newsletter for the statewide arts community and TFAA members. Each exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrate catalogue. TFAA has a membership brochure and a capital campaign brochure.
