Because we are a 'society' rather than a bricks-and-mortar museum, we don't actually have a street address and phone number. Most of our meetings do take place at 4500 Spring Creek Road at the Spring Creek United Church of Christ in Rockford.
To bring together people of all ages interested in genealogy and family history; to discover, collect and preserve material from Winnebago and Boone Counties, Illinois which may be helpful for genealogical research in the area; to stimulate interest in the genealogy of our ancestors; to encourage the publication of family histories for future generations; to promote and publish genealogical material covering Winnebago and Boone counties, adjacent counties, neighboring states, and other areas from which our ancestors came; and to work towards the improvement of local genealogical libraries.
Organized in 1986.
The society holds nine meetings each year. A free program, open to the public, is part of each meeting. Topics are generally related to genealogy and family history, but may extend to local or ethnic history.
Our meetings are held at 1:30 PM on the 1st Saturday of the month (except June-July-August), at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Rd. One meeting each year is held in Belvidere IL.
