The Central Florida Railroad Museum is located in the former Tavares and Gulf depot built in 1913. The museum contains exhibits depicting Central Florida's railroading history, including a large collection of dining car china.
It is part of the Winter Garden Downtown Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The museum is operated by the Central Florida Railway Historical Society. and opened in 1983. The museum operates in conjunction with the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation.
The mission of the Central Florida Railway Historical Society, Inc. is: Promoting railway heritage and preservation and educating members and the public about rail transportation, its history and impact, with a focus on Central Florida.
The Central Florida Railroad Museum grand opening was held on May 21, 1983. The Society also holds it's monthly meetings in the recently renovated Ken Murdock Gallery in the former Roper Building, attached to the eastern end of the depot.
Our collection of dining car china and silver service features more than 25 patterns from America's historic passenger trains.
Young railfans will enjoy our model railroad and the hands-on Thomas layout.

Building has access on the street level section of the museum, but the main gallery and meeting room require use of steps to reach the former freight section of the depot.
