Historic Macon Foundation enacts the priorities of preservation-minded volunteers in our community. We provide our members with up-to-date, complete and accurate information about economic development, smart growth and historic preservation so that we can work together with our political leaders to revitalize our beautiful city. To accomplish this goal, we regularly call on our members to advocate for the historic places they love (like Atlantic Cotton Mills and the historic Bibb County Courthouse). We provide the tools and advice that makes the most of your interests in these projects. In addition, we work to reviatlize entire working-class neighborhoods: saving the homes, preserving tolerant mixes of income levels and culture, eliminating crime and increasing homeownership. Lastly, we help facilitate urban revitalization by developing rehabilitation plans and securing tax credits for adaptive reuse projects like loft housing.
Our offices are located in the former Middle Georgia Historical Society office space in the Sidney Lanier Cottage. Drop by to visit us or call for an appointment.
